In order to promote occupant and firefighter safety during incidents at occupancies with fire suppression and extinguishing systems installed, fire inspectors need to approach fire inspections at these occupancies not only from a Code standpoint but also from a fire operations and safety perspective. Topics covered during this course will include; fire suppression and extinguishing system types, design and plan review; fire suppression and extinguishing system components and operation; aspects of several NFPA standards that pertain to fire suppression and extinguishing system installation; define and describe what fire suppression and extinguishing systems are; and draw parallels between fire suppression operations and fire inspections in occupancies that have fire suppression and extinguishing systems installed.
